Unit upgrade question
This may have been asked elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. The French, Italian Army 1798-1800 provides for up to half of the light and line demi-brigades to be upgraded to veteran. I had thought I understood this simple statement, but now I'm not so sure. Assume an army list with 9 line and 3 light...

Re: Reaction to flank charge
I generally agree with you Roger. Walt and I have played it from the beginning that a unit failing a morale test and falling back 2 UD passes through any friendly unit within 2 UD of it's rear. A careful reading of the rules seems to indicate that this is not correct as unit movement rates are never...

Re: Reaction to flank charge
If I understand your diagram, what you are illustrating is a wheel and not a reorientation which is defined as a "spin" on the unit's center. I don't know that this has come up yet in one of our games, but I suspect we would be ok with this as the unit is not ending it's move in the middle of anothe...

Re: Visibility to charge
Surely the guns are firing at the buildings, and not specifically at any of the troops scattered among the buildings.

Re: Reaction to flank charge
I'm sorry, but I still just do not see it. The deployed artillery is a long, thin line of guns. Exactly how does this reorient itself 90 degrees to bring any appreciable fire to bear on a charging enemy unit without becoming inextricably intermixed with the supporting line of infantry. I would argue...

Re: Reaction to flank charge
I disagree. The artillery cannot reorient for the same reasons the infantry cannot do so.

Reaction to flank charge
First the situation. I hope this is clear as my ability to diagram the situation is limited. AAAAAA AAAAAA BB GG BB A = large Austrian unit in line formation facing down page and supporting an unlimbered artillery. G = unlimbered Austrian gun B = Bavarian unit in line facing the Austrians, and in po...

Re: Charge Priority
I have to agree Roger. This entire bullet point just doesn't belong in anything titled "charge priority". I agree with just about everything everyone has posted here. Sounds like it is not really a "translation error" as the French rules appear to say the same nonsensical thing.
Thanks to all.
