Re: Attach the commander in chief to artillery
So do I understand this is entirely to allow the CiC to help artillery pick a target to shoot at? So agreed p 27 says "any unit" then loses the abilities etc. But under follow me p33, artillery are specifically not mentioned. This would seem to indicate the CiC cannot order the Guns to follow me. I ...

Re: cavalry/Cossacks fleeing an infantry charge
I can never decide whether the author has trouble being clear or if the translation is poor! As I have some fingerprints on that. The problem mostly comes from we think we are solving one issue and missed its impact on another issue. It can also be a solution then a translation. I think the ...

Re: Reserves
So this would require several divisions in an encounter battle to have preset orders and not a reserve order.
It seems to me easiest to say the p 67 rule connects to the "battle" and "assault" but for encounter the p 74 entry rules over-ride the general point.

Re: a caveat emptor for new players !
When the Cossacks moves to 4 UD and the infantry take a reaction test, there is no penalty for failure other than no change. You only get a disorder if charged.

Re: comparing morale and status ?
From Clarifications When comparing two units, the better of the Morale or Status advantage is taken. Example: An E3 unit facing an M3 unit. The morale is identical but there are two status differences between the two units. So the E3 unit has a +2 bonus against the M3. So an E4 v M3 is still plus two

Re: shooting through artillery units - the clarification
From the clarifications: "As artillery can fire at different ranges, firing priorities are assessed according to the closest range: first at short range, then at effective range and finally at long range. The target at the closest range always has priority over those further away." So normally 1) Sh...

Re: Can skirmishers pass thru artillery after it has prep fire
The last bullet on passage of line says the prohibition on passing through and not firing does not apply to skirmishers. p 66 last bullet movement . If the skirmisher is pushed 2 UD or less it "may" fire, If pushed over 2 UD it may not fire and takes an action marker. I do not see anything that coun...

Re: Group moves
the US rules have the same. The mixed order is apparently an infantry only reference. Add p 36 3rd bullet which again read differnt fomation only if mixed order. So at the point i think no Cavalry in line and cavarly in column are not a group with each other. Not until we get a ruling. Artillery can...

Re: Cancelling support
Clarify, I think we are saying the same thing. Different divisions do not matter. p 48 right side diagram. If either B3 or A2 were absent then the other would contribute support to the charge. So when both are present, they effectively negate the support for the melee and will fire at each other. Or...

Cancelling support
P48, 3rd bullet. Diagram on right side of page as well.
Assume A2 is not part of the division of A1 and A3 and has not moved this turn. This unit (A2) still engages and effectively prevents B3 from supporting B2 during charge as the diagram indicates, correct?
