That was my initial thought, but if support fire is an exception...
It would be nice to have target priority clarified in the next version.

Opportunity fire and target priorities
If an enemy unit moves in the arc of artillery, but is not the priority target for the artillery, can the artillery still shoot at it? We note that artillery may use support fire against a charging enemy, if it is the only target in that particular phase of play, even though it would have another ta...

Re: Opportunity fire at charging enemy
If they flee we are back to the discussion of the unlimbering battery raised in the French section of the forum. The realise to that post favour opportunity fire as the only way the potential supporters can shoot.
I would prefer not to have this. Hopefully the next version will be more specific.

Compulsory Shooting
Two infantry units are facing off in a fire fight at volley range. The non-active player's unit has a battery by its side. We played the following sequence. 1) The active player nominates the two infantry as the primary shooters. 2) The infantry of the non-active player must return fire as this is v...

Re: A few different questions
I agree there needs to be a clarification to separate voluntary and compulsory passage of lines. I think we have been playing this correctly. If you fail a morale test in a fire fight, you get extra move to complete the PoL because it is a compulsory retreat. If you pass the test, but choose to move...

Re: A few different questions
Artillery can fire, limber and move. This is only possible if the shot is done in the preparatory fire stage. If you claim the bonus for stationary, then that presumably prevents the battery moving in the movement phase. An action marker is for what you do during an activation. Sometimes you can do ...

Re: Charged and move
Not really a problem, although presumably they will need to remain as a group with any unit that fought.

Re: Artillery Prolonging
We do not lose many guns. We are very careful with them. With prolong allowed, we just kept another 2UD away from cannister range. Hence, the creeping forward of artillery as infantry backed away. If it is required to keep prolong in the rules your suggestion of it not being part of a group move is ...
