Re: Linear doctrine requirements
You are quite right Marc, and no, I did not think to do that at the time. Frankly, that is one rule that both Walt and I forget to use about 95% of the time. Doesn't really address the question at hand though.

Re: Multiple Operational Moves in a single activation?
It is not as clear as it could be, but I was leaning towards that interpretation as well.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Linear doctrine requirements
Yes. Charging in column gives a +1 rather than +2 to linear doctrine armies.
Even if it is only a home rule, I think we will allow such units to counter charge in column in future. Now if I can just get a rule that does not allow my units to roll 1s on maneuver tests . . .

Re: Linear doctrine requirements
I don't think that is correct. Page 23 is pretty clear: "Infantry is trained to fight in line formation. it can use column to move faster but must change into line to move within tactical distance from the enemy. The unit may charge while in column only to attack along a road or a village or if an i...

Multiple Operational Moves in a single activation?
Can you do this?
Could a commander with 2 command pips move class B units 8 times (for 2 pips) or is this limited to 4 times (1 pip)?

Linear doctrine requirements
This came up in a game today. British line marched onto table in column. They made one move and ended up over 6 UD from nearest enemy. French charged in column. Question: do British have to try and go to line? If not, can they counter-charge in column? We played it they had to try and go to line (th...

Re: Terrain Placement
We do the best we can, making liberal use of the "re-position as necessary" provisions of the terrain rules. hasn't been a big problem to date.

Re: C-in-C and the Reserve question Pt II
OK, so the overriding consideration is the individual commanders rating: i.e. all other considerations being equal, a competent commander can never select and/or command more than 2 artillery units for the reserve. That number will go down to the extent he selects non-artillery units from the array ...

Re: Army of Bohemia ord cmndr has 2 artillery reserve
The "Reserve" section of many lists offer far more units than any possible C-in-C can select. You pays your nickel and you makes your choices.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid I do not understand what you are telling me Adrian. Can you elaborate with an example?
