Re: Skirmishers in a building
By way of a speculative answer to your questions about why SK shoot 3 UD ... If we can accept that integral skirmishers shooting out to 3 UD represent a skirmish screen that are deployed ahead of the main body of line infantry, then we are already accepting (conceptually at least) that although our ...

Re: Skirmishers in a building
Interesting ideas ... Personally I quite like how detached skirmishers work in BE. It would be a shame to lose them from the game entirely as they do add considerable nuances to how difficult terrain influences the game. As an aesthetic, they add to the "look" of the game too. (Plus, do we really wa...

size of Prussian Landwehr Infantry units
Apologies in advance for what will seem like a very long introduction to a very minor question ... 1. In the text on page 210 the wording is precise: "in 1814 and 1815 you can have LW units of LARGE size". 2. The Prussian troop tables on page 213 permit a large size option for all LW infantry units....

Prussian in Saxony Summer 1813 list
Are the infantry brigades in this list the most permissive allowed in all the army lists ? In this list you can field an "infantry brigade" containing no infantry at all. Indeed, there are no minimums required of any kind. Don't get me wrong, as a wielder of these very Prussians myself, this complet...

Re: 1795 French doctrines
It seems sensible tome that the former Royal Regts use Linear doctrine, and the Volunteers, etc use Deep Order. But it does leave the "new" amalgamated Divisions with demi-Brigades in the position of only using Deep Order as things are currently written. And, then, what does happen with deploying a ...

Re: compulsory reserve choices
As I thought ... that means there are a number of British lists (and maybe others too) that, in effect, are required to take a compulsory artillery choice as a reserve in order to meet army minimums. Also, with a Brilliant or Competent CnC you only get 2 reserve points to use. If 1 of those goes on ...

a French 1812 playing list
One of the things that we don't seem to do on the forum is to share playing lists, so here goes: French 1812, 200pts CnC Brilliant Infantry Division, Ordinary 2 x Voltigeur 1 x Veteran Light Infantry 2 x Veteran Line Infantry 1 x Line Infantry Heavy Cavalry Division, Ordinary 2 x Carabiniers or Cuir...

compulsory reserve choices
Every army must have at least 1 cavalry and 1 artillery unit (page 104, right column, 4th bullet) British lists usually only have artillery as a reserve choice (ie not for Divisions), thereby limiting their reserve choices. Ditto for cavalry choices only in separate division. In these cases, can the...

1795 French doctrines
What is the doctrine for 1795 French armies of Midi and Centre on pages 172 and 173 ? Can a line unit (ie including the M2 and M3 Volunteers) deploy as detached skirmishers as permitted on page 166. Was this an error, and instead of "from 1795" on page 166, it should have said "from 1796" ... and wh...
