Firefight and Morale test

When a Firefight occurs, morale tests are performed in the following order:

1. The unit that has suffered the most loss or attrition.
2. The unit with the lowest morale.
3. The unit of the active player.

I have no problem with points 2 and 3 but it's the 1st point that's confusing.

Does it mean:

A. The unit with the most loss or attrition for this Fire Combat
or
B. The unit with the most loss or attrition overall.

For example. Unit X with no losses fires at Unit Y with 1 loss. After they roll for Fire Resolution they each incur a loss. Unit X now has 1 loss in total and unit Y has 2. Assuming they have the same morale, who performs the Morale Test first?

If you believe it's option A then Unit X goes first. If you believe it's option B then Unit Y goes first.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Good question, I have assumed the rules meant the current fire fight. I can see how it might be interpreted the other way though.

I suspect this is one of those things which is obvious in the French but which is an ambiguity in the English translation.

The rule only says "The unit that has suffered the most loss or attrition." but whether the suffering is total to date or only in the recently completed firefight is unclear to me.

Easy enough to argue a rationale either way - the answer will be arbitrary and final.

Hi all,

1. The unit that has suffered the most loss or attrition. DURING THIS FIREFIGHT

But when you test you count all the lost suffered since the beginning.

That is the intention I had assumed.
It's always good to read what others think though.
