minor army builder fix needed - large Prussian LW Infantry units are only 5 pts

I was just putting together some Prussian 1815 lists and discovered that the official army list builder list has the costs for large LW units incorrect.

I make a LW Infantry unit point cost as:

Morale 2 = 6 pts
C class = -1 pt
Militia = -1 pt

Equals 4 pts per unit as per the troop type lists (page 213).

A LARGE unit is 1.33 times this cost ... 4 x 1.3 = 5.3 ... which rounds down as 5 pts.

The army builder makes that, incorrectly, as 6 pts.

When I wrote the alternative army list program for v2 I knew it was different to the version 1 calculation because it was changed in the trial versions.
The multiplier for size is applied immediately after the status value is added. In v1 it was the final step.

L2 infantry 6 points
Militia status -1, 5 points.
NOW
1.33 x 5 = 6.65
Finally
Less one for C class and round off takes it 5.65 to 6 points.

Ah, I hadn't interpreted the points cost sequence that way.

Indeed, the rules section following the size adjustment piece very clearly says that the cost of special abilities are added to the base cost, thus implying that the base cost is adjusted by the cost of a special ability; after which you would modify the (new) base cost for size.

Agreed it is not totally clear. The changed sequence was trialled in the tests for version 2. The order that it is written in version 2 does have the multipliers before the abilities. This is really the only clue.

This is interesting.

I always assumed the point cost on the troops table was what was multiplied by the large/small modifier. But you point out the special abilities comes after the size modifier.

are 8 points in list
therefore a small is @ .75 would be 6.
But you are doing it
L2 B = 6 *.75 = 4.5 Plus 2 for SK = 6.5 and round to 7.

I had not realized that and always assume the spreadsheet was bollocks. But I see what you did and why.

Side effect small units pay more (relatively) for special abilities and large pay less (relatively). I do not know what i think of that.

However Russian 12lb Foot artillery are listed at 14 pts
Art 12lb L3 = 14
large *1.33 = 18.62
C class -2= 16.62
Poor shooter -2 = 14.62
That would be 15 points.

Except Dan, the multiplier for artillery is only 1.25 not 1.33.
The 14 points is correct.
