Hi there

If i have a Cav unit that is moving and an enemy arty units op fires and hits it from the flank, which way does it retreat to if the morale test is failed.
And also what about if it is hit on the rear and fails the test?
I would think that it would retreat directly away from the shot

Yes, it retreat in the direction opposite to the shot, same as in shock combat (see page 60).
