Hello all,
Must a cav. only formation with an attack order charge enemy infantry in square if it is the only enemy in charge distance?
Can such cav. formation move to engage another enemy that is further away than those squares and comply with its attack order against that other enemy?
thankyou!

Re: Attack order and Cavalry formations
Well, page 31 of the french version " cavalry within charge range of an ennemy must charge. She can ignore skirmishers" advance is only possible if no ennemy is within charge range.
As the infantry is already in square, the cavalry can't try to stop the charge.
So... it seems important to think ahead for changing orders...

Hi ya
Page 42 (English rules)
Charge Target priority
Units must charge enemy within 2UD if no enemy is within 2UD it may charge target of its choice.
The only thing we found when charging targets behind squares is that you need 3UD gap between enemy units to get past.

Re: Attack order and Cavalry formations
You also need to be aware that you travel along a line from the centre of your front to the centre of the unit being charged, so in a lot of cases this would rule out charging at units beyond the squares as well.

If a cavalry with attack order is in charge range of a square, it must charge.
Unless there is another target ...
