Counter charges

Hi

Seeking clarification more than anything.

A countercharge is treated as per a charge, so in theory can supporting units countercharge in support?

Example:

4 French Dragoons (Division 1) are 2 UD apart and supported by 4 Chasseurs/Hussars (Division 2), who are 2 UD behind each of the Dragoons.
2 Austrian Cuirassiers charge the central 2 Dragoons.
In response the Dragoons countercharge.

Who can go with them?

As a secondary query if the position was reversed would I be correct in the presumption that, even though the light cavalry of Division 2 could support they could not be included in the charge as supports if the Dragoons go for it as they are a different division and thus cannot be commanded to join in the charge?

Thanks
Huw

Counter charge is made by a group of unit.
Dragoons and Hussars are from different divisions so they don't form a group (cf. p 19)

In your example, when cuirassiers charge, only Dragoon can coutercharge.
Hussars are not useless as they can protect dragoon is they are repulsed by the ennemy.

If Dragoons charge, this is the same : Hussars cannot support as they are from another division.
But they can charge in a second time when Cuirassiers will be disordered after their combat against Dragoons
