Prolong Move for Artillery
We have experimented with many games now without using the prolong move for artillery. We believed it was not that common historically and was being used too much in the game. Without it, the games are a little simpler and we have not missed it. We offer dropping it as a thought for version two.
Re: Prolong Move for Artillery
Personally, I think it should stay, but at 1UD for all guns less than 12lbs. It is equally unhistorical, those that can measure cannister range plus a millimetre.

Re: Prolong Move for Artillery
If it is unhistorical, scrap it. The games are still as good without it.
Avoiding cannister range is not much different to avoiding cannister range + prolong distance.

Re: Prolong Move for Artillery
It's not unhistorical. So it should stay but maybe the penalties should be greater.
C class guns are massively disadvantaged in a game that is only 7 turns.

Re: Prolong Move for Artillery
Did they use prolong to move the guns in this example? That's a long way to drag a gun battery.
