Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Cavalry charges an infantry unit which fails its maneuver test and is disordered
In the combat the cavalry win by 1 and cause a loss and a second disorder to the infantry which being a second disorder caused by shock combat routs it
Does tha cavalry only advance 1 UD or because the infantry routed it can make a pursuit move?
Thank you

Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Page 61 seems clear. If a unit charges fights and wins it pursues, unless it can pass a control test not to. As impetuous troops cannot take the test, they will always pursue.
Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Thanks Roger
Yes, What if the defending unit is cavalry that is already disordered and decides to stand. The attacking cavalry wins by 1 and so the disordered cavalry is routed. In this case the attacker advances 1UD or because the defender was routed does he pursue?

Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
I can see no exceptions. If you charge and fail the test, you pursue.

Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Second thoughts, I will have another look at this. I was a bit slow understanding your question

Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
I was correct first time! If the enemy fled or routed, winners who charged pursue.
Even though routers are removed from the table, it does not prevent the winners pursuing. I presume this simulates running down the scattered survivors.

Re: Double disorder rout and cav pursuit
Ok. Whereas normal pursuit ends up going 2 Ud to contact fleeing infantry
In this case the unit is routed and the cavalry can pursue a new target within 6ud
