Charged and move
Infantry are opportunity charged by cavalry when they move within 4UD. If the infantry beat the cavalry off, can they continue with their move?
Re: Charged and move
Strictly I do not see an answer.
I have an opinion, but I cannot find a rule support for that opinion.

Re: Charged and move
Is that unfortunately you cannot find the rule or unfortunately they may not continue moving?

Re: Charged and move
Yes I can't see anything about this roger. I presume the unit being charged then reacts as per page 46 infantry usually stand in place or flee. Then if they beat off the attack can only continue moving by meeting the requirements of multiple moves. Not how we played it Tuesday but can't win them all

Re: Charged and move
When you are acting , you can just make one action. ( multiple move is one action for this purpose)
If you move , then the cavalry react, after the combat resolution you cannot move at all except by Fleeing, retreating or pursuing.. ) p60
So you stop there at that's all for this turn.
You cannot made a second moves , even if you paid for that as you are into operational distance. p38

Re: Charged and move
Thanks, that's a nice explanation about taking an action. I thought it should be the case that the move was ended, but there was no actual rule to confirm it.

Re: Charged and move
I understand what you say about the unit being charged. What about other units in the group? It seems strange one unit of cavalry can stop a whole division moving! Do they stop at the same point, continue to move whilst staying as a group with the charged unit or complete the whole move. This seems a very good way of pinning the movement of a whole division back as if you don't move as one group the cavalry can pick the unit off.
Re: Charged and move
Well the opportunity charge is resolved. so I would think the remain non-melee units may continue their move.

Re: Charged and move
Not really a problem, although presumably they will need to remain as a group with any unit that fought.
